Looking After Your TuckerCraft Board
A TuckerCraft board is more than a kitchen tool; it is a handcrafted piece of functional art built to last for generations. Like any fine timber, a little 'Deep Strategy' in its care goes a long way. Follow these steps to ensure your board remains beautiful, resilient, and ready for every occasion.
🧼 Cleaning & Drying
Always clean your board promptly after use, especially after preparing chicken or fish.
Scrape off any residue, then wash with warm soapy water — no soaking required.
Wash both sides to maintain balanced moisture exposure and prevent warping.
Dry evenly by standing the board upright on its edge, allowing air to circulate.
🟣 Stain Awareness
Avoid cutting foods with strong pigments like beetroot, turmeric, or berries.
While the wax finish offers good protection, our boards contain no hardeners — which aren’t food safe — so staining is still possible.
A complimentary bottle of board conditioner is included to help maintain the finish.
🚫 What Not to Do
Never use harsh wire scrubbers or strong chemical cleaners.
Do not put your board in the dishwasher — the heat and water exposure will damage it.
Avoid leaving your board in direct sunlight for extended periods. Timber is organic, and even with a wax finish, uneven drying can cause cupping or warping.
🧴 Conditioning & Care
Regular conditioning keeps your board looking its best. With frequent use and cleaning, the timber will naturally dry out over time.
We recommend conditioning:
After the first month of use
Again after two months
Then as needed — whenever the board looks dry
The more often you condition, the longer your board will retain its rich colour and smooth finish.
🌿 About the Conditioner
Your complimentary bottle is a food-safe blend of:
Mineral oil
Beeswax
Carnauba wax
Vitamin E
Supplied by Howard Products NZ (Australia), this is the same trusted formula found in Howard’s Butcher Block Conditioner with Vitamin E — safe for all food-contact surfaces.
You can purchase additional Howards Board Care products from our Market stalls, or you can find a link at the bottom of this page to purchase online.
This board was made with my own hands as a timeless piece of natural, functional art. I hope it brings warmth to your kitchen, elevates your entertaining, and sparks conversation around your table.
Now, this is quick story is coming from me personally - John Butler III - , a professional 3rd Gen Woodworker who had my own professional woodshop in Northern California for a decade in the 70s/80s with 25+ sfaff.... :
Anyway to keep this concise, I happened by Tucker's local vendor display-booth this past weekend fair at Britomart Station in Auckland, N.Z. and I was truly stopped in my tracks when I saw THE finest quality of handcrafted true-art in the physical form-and-function of cutting boards. Actual functional-art that would and could and likely will be a conversation starter at your next dinner or luncheon gathering. I was truly wowed and impressed. Quality is absolute and certainly next level. Each one unique and a dimensional masterpiece.
