Looking After Your Board

Looking After Your TuckerCraft Board

Your TuckerCraft board is a handcrafted piece of functional art, made to last and enrich your kitchen for years to come. With a little care, it will stay beautiful, resilient, and ready for every occasion.

🧼 Cleaning & Drying

  • Always clean your board promptly after use, especially after preparing chicken or fish.
  • Scrape off any residue, then wash with warm soapy water — no soaking required.
  • Wash both sides to maintain balanced moisture exposure and prevent warping.
  • Dry evenly by standing the board upright on its edge, allowing air to circulate.

🟣 Stain Awareness

  • Avoid cutting foods with strong pigments like beetroot, turmeric, or berries.
  • While the wax finish offers good protection, our boards contain no hardeners — which aren’t food safe — so staining is still possible.
  • A complimentary bottle of board conditioner is included to help maintain the finish.

🚫 What Not to Do

  • Never use harsh wire scrubbers or strong chemical cleaners.
  • Do not put your board in the dishwasher — the heat and water exposure will damage it.
  • Avoid leaving your board in direct sunlight for extended periods. Timber is organic, and even with a wax finish, uneven drying can cause cupping or warping.

🧴 Conditioning & Care

  • Regular conditioning keeps your board looking its best. With frequent use and cleaning, the timber will naturally dry out over time.
  • We recommend conditioning:
    • After the first month of use
    • Again after two months
    • Then as needed — whenever the board looks dry
  • The more often you condition, the longer your board will retain its rich colour and smooth finish.

🌿 About the Conditioner

Your complimentary bottle is a food-safe blend of:

  • Mineral oil
  • Beeswax
  • Carnauba wax
  • Vitamin E

Supplied by Howard Products NZ (Australia), this is the same trusted formula found in Howard’s Butcher Block Conditioner with Vitamin E — safe for all food-contact surfaces.

This board was made with my own hands as a timeless piece of natural, functional art. I hope it brings warmth to your kitchen, elevates your entertaining, and sparks conversation around your table.

Thank you for choosing TuckerCraft.

Warm regards,
Ross
